Key Accessibility Features
Resizeable Text
Our design enables users to resize text to suit different vision requirements, without "breaking" the structure of the website. This is to benefit users with low vision, working on the same principles as "large print" books.
Most popular browsers provide functions to enable this:
- Internet Explorer
View > Text Size > Select Preferred size - Firefox
To increase text : CTRL and +
To decrease text : CTRL and - - Opera (Version 8+)
To increase text : SHIFT and +
To decrease text : SHIFT and -
Fluid Page Design
Our fluid design expands or contracts to cater for the variety of ways that individuals view web pages. It adapts to varieties in screen resolutions and browser window sizes, without requiring the users to scroll horizontally, and without leaving large columns of empty space either side of the website.
Alternative Text
Whenever images are used, a text alternative is also provided. This allows users who do not see images (e.g. Totally blind users, users with text-only browsers, or users who have disabled images on order to reduce load times) to fully access all content.
Technical Standards
The First Rate training website seeks to adhere to the following technical web design standards in order to achieve its accessibility aims.
